[BUSINESS PSYCHOLOGY] Have you ever bought something on impulse?

【商業心理】你曾因一時衝動而購物?

We often inadvertently buy unnecessary things that end up being discarded without use, leading to a sense of waste.

Referencing a survey by Tim Wilson and Dan Gilbert at the University of Pennsylvania, customers at a supermarket were asked, "Are you hungry?" and then asked what they planned to buy.

Group A: Customers who answered hungry

Group B: Customers who answered not hungry Group A would buy snacks they didn't originally intend to buy.

It is suggested to write a shopping list before going to the supermarket next time. As a result, both Group A and Group B hardly bought anything extra.
Then, for the second time, the subjects were asked to go to the supermarket and write down a shopping list in advance.

This time, the results showed that subjects in both Group A and Group B hardly bought any food not on the list.

This shows that without prior planning, it's easy to succumb to temptation.
Therefore, write down the items you plan to buy on paper first. This can reduce impulse purchases and prevent being influenced by unexpected items.
